Job targeting

Job targeting generates a version of your CV tailored to a specific job posting. It analyzes the job's exact requirements, scores how well your profile matches, and rewrites your CV to align with what the role needs.

How it works

  1. From your dashboard, go to CV → Target a job.
  2. Select the base CV you want to adapt (or start a new one).
  3. Paste the URL of the job posting. CV Pro supports most major job boards.
  4. CV Pro scrapes and analyzes the full job description.
  5. You receive a fit score with a detailed breakdown.
  6. Review the results — CV Pro explains every gap in plain language.
  7. Choose whether to proceed. If your fit score is low, you'll see a warning.
  8. Confirm, and CV Pro generates the targeted CV.
  9. Download as PDF or DOCX.

The fit score

The fit score is a percentage that measures how well your current profile matches the requirements in the job posting. It's calculated from:

  • Hard skills match — technical skills and tools mentioned in the posting vs. your CV
  • Soft skills and keywords — language patterns in the job description matched against your text
  • Experience level — years required vs. your history
  • Education — required qualifications vs. what you have

A fit score below 50% triggers a warning before generation. You can still proceed — the warning is informational, not a block.

What gets changed in the targeted CV

CV Pro rewrites your existing CV — it does not add experience you don't have. Changes include:

  • Bullet points reworded to mirror the job's language and priorities
  • Skills section updated to surface relevant keywords from your profile
  • Summary/objective rewritten to reflect the target role
  • Section ordering adjusted to match what the role prioritizes

Your factual information (titles, dates, company names, education) is never changed.

Supported job boards

CV Pro can extract job data from LinkedIn Jobs, Indeed, Welcome to the Jungle, Glassdoor, Jobteaser, and most other boards that display job descriptions as public web pages. Direct application portals with login walls may not be supported.

If a URL can't be scraped, you can paste the job description as plain text directly into the input field.
